How do I post NSD district forms to SchoolWires pages or the district fileserver for staff to access?

Note: These instructions are ONLY for Central Office NSD staff who create, maintain and post district forms to SchoolWires pages or NSD servers for NSD staff to access.

The fileserver and SchoolWires will be happier if you use the following guidelines when naming files:

Documents:
• Cannot include the following anywhere in the file name: colon, question mark, angle brackets, slashes, semicolon, comma, and pipe (|).
• Cannot be the first character in a file name: space, period, dash
• Cannot be the last character in a file name: equal sign, space

Posting forms to the fileserver (the forms "warehouse"):

Access the FormsCommittee space:

For school users:

Open My Server Folder and then navigate to:
SchoolOffices (a shortcut will be on your desktop if you have access to this share point)
[schoolname]
SharedProjects
Office
FormsCommittee

For Admin users:
Open My Server Folder and then navigate to:
Office (a shortcut will be on your desktop if you have access to this share point)
[Departmentname]
SharedProjects
FormsCommittee

To post a document, drag it and drop it into the relevant folder according to these parameters:

• Use intradocs when posting final versions of forms that you want users to enter their NSDnet username and password to access.

• Use publicdocs when posting final versions of forms that parents, students or other district personnel would use.

• Use SharedWorkSpace to store working documents, drafts and archived forms.

You can create subfolders within each of these folders using the same naming conventions described above.

Connecting web users to forms in the FormsCommittee Space:

Documents in FormsCommittee will follow these protocols for web addresses:

A form inside the intradocs folder will have a URL like this:
http://docs.nsd.org/forms/intradocs/[formname]
When a user clicks on the link to this form, they'll be prompted to enter their NSD username and password. After they've authenticated, the form will download and open according to the settings on their computer.

A form inside the publicdocs folder will have a URL like this:
http://docs.nsd.org/forms/publicdocs/[formname]
Users will not be asked to enter a username and password. The document will download and open according to the settings on their computer.

If you create subfolders inside intradocs or publicdocs, the URL will change to reflect that new folder:
http://docs.nsd.org/forms/intradocs/[subfolder]/[formname]

Fewer subfolders and shorter document names will make for shorter URLs and thus less error.

How to add a remote document in SchoolWires:

Please log in to Atomic Learning at http://www.atomiclearning.com/k12/ using your Northshore username and password. Once logged in, click on the "My School's Trainings" button on the right hand side of the screen.

From the window that opens, select SchoolWires Support.

Finally, select the video indicated in the red oval below.
