My computer won’t boot up. It’s frozen on a gray or blue screen.

- Shut down your Mac. If necessary, hold your Mac's power button for 8-10 seconds (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, etc.) to force it to power down.
- Disconnect all peripheral devices such as external hard drives, USB printers, keyboard, and mouse. Also disconnect any Ethernet cables. Only leave the power plug connected.
- Start up your Mac by pressing and releasing the power button.
- It may take up to a half an hour for your computer to boot after a cold shutdown while your computer runs diagnostics and system checks. (The next time you restart it will boot a lot quicker).
