Why doesn’t my mouse and/or keyboard work?

There are several things you can try to have your computer recognize your mouse or keyboard again:

  1. Unplug the mouse or keyboard from the computer's USB port then replug it to see if it's recognized (USB ports have a little trident symbol above them. Don't try to plug a mouse or keyboard into a non-USB port as it may damage the port).
  2. Plug the mouse or keyboard into a different USB port on your computer.
  3. If your mouse is not recognized and it's plugged into your computer, try plugging the mouse into one of the USB ports on the keyboard. If it's connected to the keyboard already, try a different keyboard port or a port on the computer. It may be the keyboard port that's faulty.
  4. Swap the mouse or keyboard with another station to see if it works.
  5. Restart the computer.

If the steps above don't work, please submit a Web Help Desk work order ticket. Be sure to include the barcode number of the computer the mouse or keyboard came from.
