Microsoft Word / Excel / Powerpoint keeps crashing. I get an error that says Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint has unexpectedly quit.

Try trashing the preferences using the process below.

  1. Close out of Word.
  2. Double click on the Macintosh HD icon on your desktop, or click on the "smiley face guy" in your dock to open a Finder window. Click on your NSD username in the left sidebar of the Finder window and select Library and then the Preferences folder.
  3. In the Preferences folder, delete the file called com.microsoft.Word.plist.
  4. Try opening Word again.
  5. If you are still experiencing issues, close out of Word again.
  6. Go back to your user Library folder and select the Application Support folder, and then navigate to Microsoft -> Office -> User Templates.
  7. Delete the file called Normal.dotm.
