My computer doesn’t detect the ActivBoard. The pens aren’t working on the board.

NOTE: If you have one of the newer, touch sensitive ActivBoards, make sure that nothing "extra" is touching the board surface. Paper or other items taped to (including "stickies") or magnets will prevent the board from properly responding to ActivPens and finger touches.

Take the tip out of the ActivPen and flip it over. Put the tip back in the pen and try it on the ActivBoard again. If it still doesn't work, try a different known good ActivPen. If both pens don't work, your computer does not recognize that the ActivBoard is connected. Try the following:

  1. Unplug the USB cable that connects your computer to the ActiveBoard. If the ActivBoard is plugged in to a wall outlet, unplug the ActivBoard power cord.
  2. Wait 30 seconds.
  3. Plug the ActivBoard power cord into the wall outlet.
  4. Plug the USB cable into the computer. If you have a MacBook Air, be sure to connect the ActivBoard USB cable to the USB port on the left side of the computer. The port on the left side is slightly more powerful than the port on the right side of a MacBook Air.
  5. Check if the ActivPen is working with the ActivBoard. If it's still not working, restart your computer.

If this doesn't fix it, please fill out a Web Help Desk work order ticket or call Technical Support at x6688.
