How can I make a long distance call from a district phone?

As of Summer 2011, there is a new way to dial long distance numbers.

On the new ShoreTel phones, dial 9 + 1 + area code + phone number.

long distance, call, phone, scan, block, type, call, you, chosen, cannot be completed, dialed, blocked, to making outside calls
